Bayern Munich clobbered an amateur team in the Club World Cup, setting a new all-time record in FIFA competitions.

They came for a tournament that FIFA vastly overbaked and overhyped. As this inaugural Club World Cup approached in April, May and June, organizers became increasingly worried, and desperate to sell tickets. They slashed prices and concocted special deals. They offered five tickets for $20 to local college students, and freebies to veterans.

The Club World Cup brings a certain level of excitement for soccer fans. But some are feeling uneasy about the level of security at match venues. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents doubling as security for major sporting events isn’t uncommon.

Al Ahly have bolstered their attack significantly heading into the Club World Cup. Egypt national team veteran Mahmoud Hassan, more commonly known as Trezeguet, has returned from a loan spell at Trabzonspor, while they added his international teammate Zizo on a free transfer from domestic rivals Zamalek.

The revamped Club World Cup gets underway on Saturday in Miami, amid a mixture of excitement, skepticism and concerns verging from ticket sales to players’ welfare.
