Freezing rain and drizzle is one of winter's "sneaky" hazards, according to the weather service, forming a fine layer of ice on the road that can be hard to see but is dangerous. Drivers that can't avoid travel should slow down, turn off cruise control and leave enough distance between you and other drivers.

While the state did not beat a record low temperature this week, four new records have been set for daily temperatures in some cities.
