Starting Oct. 1, Amazon will change its program that allows Prime members to share free shipping benefits with people outside their household.
Starting in October, those privileges can no longer be shared with anyone outside of a Prime member’s household. The Prime Invitee program, which had made this possible, is being replaced by Amazon Family [1].
Amazon has agreed to a record $2.5 billion settlement with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for forced enrollment in Prime membership.

Amazon has settled a multi-billion dollar case in which the FTC alleged Amazon misled members about its Prime services.
To settle the charges, Amazon has agreed to pay a $1 billion civil penalty and $1.5 billion to refund customers. The company also agreed to "ease unlawful enrollment and cancellation practices for Prime," per the FTC.
