Snow continues to fall in Cornwall as schools close and roads grind to a halt. Children in pockets of the county will be getting the day off today as temperatures plummet. Some have descibed the snowfall as "heavy" and the A39 is blocked due to thick ice causing dangerous driving conditions.

The weather agency issued multiple yellow alerts for North East England, South West Scotland and Lothian Borders, Yorkshire and the Humber, Central, Tayside and Fife, Grampian, Highlands and Eilean Siar, Orkney and Shetland, and Strathclyde.
