Aloka the peace dog, the social media star who has become the mascot of the cross-country Walk for Peace, is recovering well after having surgery on his leg in South Carolina.

The Walk for Peace comes to Rock Hill on Tuesday, as crowds prepare to greet a group of Buddhist monks that have become an internet sensation.

Nearly two dozen monks left Fort Worth, Texas, in October with plans to stop in nine state capitols on their way to Washington, D.C.
