The Dow ended the day gaining 0.5%, or 238 points, and closed at a fresh new high. The S&P 500 notched a 0.7% increase and also finished at a record high as it neared the 7,000 mark. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq composite fared even better than the other two leading indexes and ended the day with a 0.8% gain.
