Iowa City Regina headed to Class 1A state title game after semifinal win vs Grundy Center
Regina Catholic is headed to its first state football title game since 2020 after a 31-12 win over Grundy Center in the 1A semifinals.

Grundy Center reached rare air Friday night, becoming just the third school in state history to ever win 50 straight football games. The Spartans shut out Beckman Catholic to advance to the state semifinals.

The 2025 football season marked the end of an era for Hurley, Grundy and Twin Valley high schools as the three schools prepare to become the consolidated Southern Gap High School. In 1997, Grundy High School beat Lebanon High School 14-6.
