Minnesota governor declares peacetime emergency, activates National Guard for wildfire response
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Sunday declared a peacetime emergency and mobilized the National Guard to help battle several major wildfires in the state.
As of 11:30 a.m. Sunday, the Minnesota Incident Command System reported the fire was 1,200 acres in size and 0% contained.
The wildfire erupted near Flanders Lake, about five miles from Crosslake, on Saturday afternoon. Rain could help later Sunday.
