While we'll say again that Ewers deserves kudos for his performance against Tampa Bay, the reality is he threw for only 172 yards, this after he passed for 260 yards in his NFL starting debut, which ended in a 45-21 loss against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Quinn Ewers ' debut. The rookie quarterback out of Texas completed 20 of 30 passes for zero touchdowns and two interceptions in his first NFL start. Miami was actually down just three points at the halftime before the Bengals scored 21 unanswered in the third quarter.

A strong performance by Miami in its home finale vs. Tampa Bay could go a long way toward soothing fans’ frustrations after back-to-back lopsided losses.

Put it together and the Miami Dolphins, who aren’t going to the playoffs, rode rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers to a 20-17 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and veteran Baker Mayfield. Ewers threw touchdown passes of 63 yards to Theo Wease and 11 to Greg Dulcich. He rarely looked like a rookie.
