Airlines have canceled more than 3,000 flights ahead of the massive winter storm, reports ABC News' Sam Sweeney.

The storm was expected to hit much of the Northeast and coastal Mid-Atlantic region on Sunday, and could bring at least 13 to 18 inches of snow to the city, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service’s New York Office said snow is falling in New York at the rate of two inches per hour, and heavier snowfall is expected overnight.
