Rodrigo Duterte, the former Philippine president, was arrested on Tuesday in Manila and was flown to The Hague to face International Criminal Court charges of crimes against humanity.

Police took him into custody on orders of the ICC, which has been investigating the massive killings that happened under the former president’s deadly crackdown against illegal drugs.

Duterte has been accused of crimes against humanity in connection with his war on drugs, during which, rights groups say, tens of thousands of Filipinos were killed.
