Stranger Things season 5 finds Holly Wheeler in tremendous danger, but does she actually die in the first part of the season?

Season 5 opens with a flashback to November 12, 1983, six days after Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) went missing. It gives us the first glimpse at what Will was going through while he was in the Upside Down, and it directly ties his disappearance to Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) for the first time.

The Season 5 "Stranger" premiere starts at the very beginning. It's a very good place to start.

The first episodes of the show's fifth and final season are out on Wednesday night. Critic Eric Deggans says the Duffer Brothers keep the plot moving along — even though, so far, many of the storylines feel familiar.

In Stranger Things Season 5, Holly Wheeler, Mike and Nancy’s little sister, is introduced. She talks to a mysterious figure called Mr. Whatsit. No one else can see him. Holly thinks he protects her from monsters. Her family and teachers think she is imagining it. Mike comforts her and gives her a D&D figure, and this helps her feel brave.
