The holiday weekend brings dangerous heat to central North Carolina. A heat advisory has been issued for Raleigh, Durham and surrounding areas through Thursday evening.

As the first round of storms wanes in Minnesota on Wednesday, another stronger system is expected to hit the state in the evening.

Any storms that develop could provide temporary relief but may also cause localized power outages, eliminating air conditioning for some residents and compounding heat risks.
