Winter Weather in Michigan: Snowfall wreaking havoc on Metro Detroit travel
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect around Southeast Michigan due to falling snow and tumbling temperatures making driving hazardous on highways. Up to five inches are expected in the immediate area with even more snow expected to fall in the thumb.
Another round of snow will hit Southeast Michigan on Friday, leaving Michiganders with another reason to use their shovels.
On Jan. 15, an observer in Barron, located in southwest Michigan near Niles, reported the heaviest snow at 17 inches, with nearby cities seeing 9 to 16.4 inches. The central U.P., around Marquette, recorded amounts ranging from 8-11.9 inches.
The main window for widespread accumulating snow showers looks to be heading our way tonight and into Monday. We're forecasting between 1 to 3 inches of snow during that period,
