NY Giants roster move: Another tight end added to practice squad
The New York Giants continued on Wednesday to stockpile tight ends on their practice squad, adding four-year veteran Tanner Conner. The 27-year-old was cut this week by the Miami Dolphins. In recent weeks, the Giants have added three tight ends to their practice squad — Conner, Zach Davidson, and Maximilian Mang.
With the fifth overall pick in the 2026 draft, the Giants ended up selecting Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate. Even with Jeremiah Smith on the same team, Tate had a breakout year, finishing second on the Buckeyes with 838 receiving yards in the regular season. He made multiple impressive catches downfield that grabbed the nation’s attention.

NY Giants head-coaching search: How desirable is the job?
ESPN’s Bill Barnwell doesn’t seem convinced that candidates will be lining up for the job quite the way the Giants envision. In a post ranking the eight jobs he thinks “might” come open at season’s end, Barnwell ranked the Giants’ vacancy No. 5. His list:
EAST RUTHERFORD - Three games into his interim tenure, three losses with Mike Kafka in command following the Nov. 10 firing of Brian Daboll, the New York Giants return from their bye week on a seven-game losing streak heading into Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders.
Abdul Carter is no longer a sleeping Giant. He showed up Sunday as an awakened Giant, the player the Giants expected to wreak havoc as the third-overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. “I feel like it was a statement,” Carter said after Commanders 29, Giants 21, “but it would have been more satisfying if we got the win.”
There is no sugarcoating how awful the New York Giants have been on special teams in recent weeks. On Sunday against the Washington Commanders, the Giants gave up a 63-yard punt return touchdown to Jaylin Lane.
