Norwegian drama "Dreams" won the top prize at the Berlin film festival on Saturday, while Australia's Rose Byrne clinched the Best Performance award, with both movies focused on women's experiences.

The Berlin Film Festival's closing ceremony is about to begin at the Berlinale Palast where competition winners will be announced. This year's festival was Tricia Tuttle's first at the helm. Events began on February 13 with a screening of Tom Tykwer's latest The Light.

Rose Byrne has scooped the Berlin Film Festival award for best performance for her lead role in the comedy-drama If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. The Balmain-born X-Men actor plays an overwhelmed and exhausted mother desperately seeking a cure for her daughter’s mystery illness.

The event’s other honorees include the actress Rose Byrne, a performance as the composer Richard Rodgers and an Argentine film about a girl who seems to speak to animals.
