Jurickson Profar agreed to a $42 million, three-year contract with the Atlanta Braves, less than a year after the outfielder got a $1 million deal from the San Diego Padres with spring training already underway.

The former New York Yankees pitcher will look to help a Padres bullpen that recently lost All-Star Tanner Scott to the division rival Los Angeles ... this week in Jurickson Profar.

The Braves also signed Bryan De La Cruz to a one-year deal on Dec. 16 to add outfield depth, but the team otherwise had a quiet offseason before the addition of Profar. A switch-hitter, he will join Michael Harris, Jarred Kelenic, Eli White and De La Cruz as Atlanta's top outfielders.

The Padres on Tuesday made their first free-agent addition of the offseason, agreeing to a reunion with Elías Díaz, the Union-Tribune confirmed. Miami-based El Extrabase reported on social media that the deal was for $3.5 million for one year. Díaz also received a mutual option for 2026.

Not only did the Padres wait until Jan. 24 to make their first major league acquisition — right-handed pitcher Ron Marinaccio in a trade with the Chicago White Sox — but the Friars are yet to make a big league signing, although reports have circulated Tuesday that the team is in agreement on a one-year deal with catcher Elias Diaz.

The Padres' offseason has been nothing short of tragic. By Game 3 of the NLDS, San Diego had LA on the ropes, up two games to one. It seemed like the Padres were actually going to prove all of the Dodgers' naysayers right, but then they went 24 scoreless innings to hand the last three games over to LA. Whomp whomp. It was all downhill from there.
