One of the seven members of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, Adriana Kugler, announced she is stepping down next week, creating an opening for President Donald Trump to fill.

Federal Reserve Governor Adriana Kugler will step down from her post on August 8, months before her terms scheduled end in January 2026. The unexpected resignation adds new uncertainty to the central banks leadership

“It has been an honor of a lifetime to serve on the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System,” Kugler wrote in a resignation letter to Trump on Friday. “I am especially honored to have served during a critical time in achieving our dual mandate of bringing down prices and keeping a strong and resilient labor market.”
