Space.com on MSNNASA's new SPHEREx space telescope takes its 1st cosmic images: 'The instrument team nailed it'This first light, as it's called, shows that all of the spacecraft's systems are working just as expected. "Based on the images we are seeing, we can now say that the instrument team nailed it," Jamie Bock, SPHEREx’s principal investigator at Caltech and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, said in a statement.
The space telescope has contributed significantly to scientific discoveries, helping researchers better understand the formation and evolution of our universe.

Space.com on MSNJames Webb Space Telescope discovers 2 galaxies forming breathtaking 'cosmic lens': Space photo of the dayThe space telescope's image of a odd-looking spiral galaxy is, in reality, two distant galaxies overlapping each other.
Webb first observed the region called Sagittarius C in 2023. Now researchers are now using those observations to study star formation in the wider area around the center of the Milky Way, known as the Central Molecular Zone.
The rare cosmic phenomenon, called an Einstein ring, occurs when massive objects can bend light due to their gravitational influence. The post James Webb Space Telescope image shows one galaxy hiding behind another appeared first on Talker.

Smithsonian Magazine on MSNCheck Out Neptune’s Beautiful Auroras, Captured for the First Time by the James Webb Space TelescopeScientists suspected the ice giant hosted auroras—and had already observed them on Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus. But an observation of Neptune's lights remained elusive for decades
Hycean worlds, which are a possible kind of exoplanet with deep oceans surrounded by a thick envelope of hydrogen, could provide the best chance for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) to detect biosignatures, according to a new study.
Astronomers using the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) have identified the most distant known quiescent galaxy, revealing that some massive galaxies stopped forming stars shockingly early in the Universe’s history—just 700 million years after the Big ...
