MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Violence and fear swept through towns in an arc around Minneapolis for more than 40 hours over the weekend as a man seemingly intent on sowing political devastation killed one Minnesota state lawmaker and left another bleeding from nine bullet wounds.
A massive manhunt is underway for the suspect behind the fatal shooting of Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband in Brooklyn Park. State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were also injured in what Gov.
Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses were targeted in shootings at their homes, causing concern and prompting a statement of solidarity from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. The motives are unclear and investigations are ongoing.
Boetler, who was arrested June 15 near his Green Isle, Minnesota, home, killed former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in their Brooklyn Park home on June 14.
