Nearly three months removed from a season-ending Achilles tear during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinal, Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum is beginning his road to recovery and no longer wearing a boot on his surgically repaired right ankle.
While the Eastern Conference appears wide open, the Celtics are not expected to be in title contention. Boston traded two of its key contributors from its 2024 championship roster — Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis — in June, and the team is also expected to let Al Horford walk in free agency.
Celtics guard Anfernee Simons came to Boston from Portland in the Jrue Holiday trade, but might not stick for long.
