Sony is suing Tencent for copying nearly every aspect of its Horizon games for the upcoming Light of Motiram, an open-world hunting game with some obvious similarities to Sony's franchise, as first reported by Reuters. Tencent first announced the new game in November 2024.

Sony's PlayStation is suing China-based video game giant Tencent over copyright and trademark infringement regarding the former's "Horizon" franchise.

In the lawsuit, Sony calls Tencent's Light of Motiram a "slavish clone" of the Horizon series that copies its entire aesthetic, story, themes, and gameplay in a way that could confuse consumers. Sony is asking for an unspecified amount of monetary damages and an order that prevents Tencent from infringing on its IP rights.
