Thousands of anti-Trump protests are erupting across the United States this weekend under the banner of “No Kings” day.
That’s part of why George Atkinson, a former high school government teacher, felt compelled to join a protest in downtown Houston on Saturday. The 89-year-old affixed a sign to his walker that read, “The clothes have no emperor! He’s all hat and no cattle!”
The "No Kings National Day of Mobilizations" is scheduled to take place nationwide Saturday, June 14, with several planned in Rhode Island.
The 'No Kings' protests in Vero Beach, Sebastian and Port St. Lucie are part of a nationwide event organized in response to President Donald Trump.
Indivisible cofounder and protest organizer Ezra Levin explained ahead of Saturday that the movement is about reclaiming U.S. patriotism from the Republican Party and to denounce what he called Trump's authoritarian actions.
