Sri Lanka has edged closer to Bangladesh's formidable first-innings total, reaching 465 for six at lunch on Day 4 of the series-opening cricket test and cutting the deficit to just 30 runs.

The start of the session had seen Sri Lanka eyeing a lead, with Kamindu Mendis and Milan Rathnayake in the midst of a 79-run stand. But when Milan dragged on an attempted pull off Hasan Mahmud, the wheels began to come off Sri Lanka's innings.

Bangladesh edged ahead of Sri Lanka on day four of the first test in Galle on Friday, extending their lead to 187 runs with seven wickets in hand.
