The Yankees' new third baseman already has given them excellent defense and even chipped in with a big hit on Sunday.

Ryan McMahon traded to Yankees. McMahon has been less a stud in Fantasy than a steady presence, consistently delivering 20 to 25 home runs with a not so terrible batting average.

The Yankees still have to address their biggest need – pitching – ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline. But in the meantime, the first player they acquired to fill another big hole is paying immediate dividends.

The Royals reached a two-year, $46 million guaranteed contract extension with Lugo on Sunday, according to multiple reports. While Lugo was widely considered one of the top trade candidates ahead of Thursday's trade deadline, he'll instead be in Kansas City for years to come.
