Tiger Woods admitted that it was "very difficult" to relocate The Genesis Invitational to Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego in the wake of the wildfires in California.

As of Friday, Gorsich was doing anything he could to support the Genesis Invitational while also overseeing his own tour event with 75 golfers playing into Saturday’s final round, toward an overall purse of $9 million and a winner’s check of $1.67 million.

Keeping the tourney in California and the proximity to Riviera Country Club were primary factors for selecting Torrey Pines for the Feb. 13-16 to the event.

Torrey Pines is the replacement site for the Genesis Invitational. The Tiger Woods-hosted signature event typically is held at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles.

The PGA Tour announced Friday that next month’s Genesis Invitational, which traditionally has been played at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, will be moved to Torrey Pines outside San Diego because of the fires that have ravaged the Los Angeles area.
