Getting into the rhythm of Carnival, which started February 9th in Brazil, we bring you the Frevo dance, with origins from the south American nation’s northern regions. Influenced by the Russian polka, some classical ballet steps and other popular Afro-Brazilian dances, such as the maxixe and capoeira, Frevo was awarded the title of Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2012.
