I’m creating a 1930s style kitchen dinette in honor of my late grandmother, Isla. The inspiration came from her 1930s China I inherited. Lock of finances is of no consequence when creating spaces. Years ago women would set their hair with rags and called this “rag rolling”. If you wrap your hair when it’s wet, as it dries it sets in these curls that will last for days if you handle them properly. I remembered my grandmother always having a once a week appointment to have her hair set. She would go to the beauty parlor and have her hair washed and set. Then remember how she would protect her hair from wind and water with a little plastic bonnet and at night she would sleep on a silk pillow
