We've been enjoying the melodious chorus of spring peepers! In spring, they’re one of the first species to start calling, with males emitting a high-pitched "peep" at one-second intervals. Breeding season begins in February and lasts until June. Males call from the water’s edge, where females can lay up to 900 eggs, which are fertilized as they’re laid. The eggs are attached to dead leaves or sticks and hatch within 3 to 14 days, depending on water temperature. The tadpoles undergo metamorphosis
